Connect your Instagram Insights account to Google Looker Studio using Data Bloo’s free connector. This guide walks you through the setup process step by step.

Prerequisites

Before connecting your data, make sure you have:

  • A Data Bloo account (free signup)
  • A Google account with access to Looker Studio
  • An Instagram Business or Creator account linked to a Facebook Page
  • Admin or Editor access to the connected Facebook Page
  • Pop-up blockers disabled (for Google and Facebook OAuth authentication)

How to Connect

Step 1: Sign in to Data Bloo

  • Visit hub.databloo.com
  • Click Sign in and log in via Google or your email/password

Step 2: Add the Instagram Insights Data Source

  • In the left menu, go to Data Sources
  • Click on the Instagram Insights tile under “Add new data source”

Step 3: Authorize Instagram Account

  • Click Connect with Instagram Insights
  • You’ll be redirected to Facebook for authorization
  • Approve the requested permissions to let Data Bloo access your Instagram data

Step 4: Select Instagram Accounts

  • Choose the Instagram Business or Creator account(s) you want to connect
  • Click Connect Selected Accounts

Step 5: Review Connection

  • Your connected accounts will now appear under the Instagram Insights data source
  • You can add or remove accounts at any time
  • Click Looker Studio to proceed to reporting

Step 6: Authorize in Looker Studio

  • Looker Studio will request authorization
  • Approve access for both the connector and Instagram data
  • Click “Edit and share” on the top right and then “Acknowledge and save” in the modal
  • Wait for the report to generate; avoid clicking anything until redirected to edit mode

Step 7: View the Instagram Insights Dashboard

Your Looker Studio dashboard will now load, displaying key Instagram metrics such as:

  • Impressions, Reach, and Profile Visits
  • Follower Growth and Audience Demographics
  • Post Engagement, Saves, Shares, and Comments
  • Stories and Reels performance metrics

Step 8 (Optional): Add or Switch Accounts

If you want to filter by account, adjust reporting, or switch to a different Facebook/Instagram account:

  • Use this when:
    • You manage multiple Instagram accounts
    • You want to segment performance by campaign, region, or brand
    • You need to collaborate across teams or clients

How to Edit the Data Source Configuration

  1. Open your Looker Studio report
  2. In the top menu, click Resource > Manage added data sources
  3. Find your Instagram Insights source and click Edit
  4. Click Edit connection in the data schema view

Modify Account or Page Parameters

  • Change the Facebook account from the dropdown
  • Select a different Instagram account or add multiple ones
  • Apply filters or segments depending on your analysis needs

Finalize Changes

  • Click Reconnect
  • Confirm changes by clicking Apply
  • The dashboard will now update with the new configuration

Troubleshooting

Error 400 (Bad Request)Open a new browser window and log in only with the Google account linked to both Looker Studio and your data source.
Log out of any other Google accounts.
Clear your browser’s cookies and cache.
Then, try reconnecting again.

  • Data Security: Data Bloo does not store your Instagram data. All data is read-only via Facebook’s secure API.
