What connecting Facebook Ads to Claude actually means

You can ask Claude about your Facebook Ads and get a real answer, pulled from your actual account, in seconds. Type "how did my Facebook Ads do last month" and Claude reads your numbers and tells you, no CSV export, no dashboard to open. The connection runs through the Data Bloo MCP, takes about two minutes to set up, and it's read-only, so Claude can analyze your campaigns but can never change them.

Want Claude to actually manage campaigns, create and pause ads? Use Meta's official connector. Want Claude to read, analyze and report on Facebook Ads, blend them with your other channels, and feed the same data to your Data Studio dashboards? That's Data Bloo, and that's what the rest of this guide covers.

Why connect Facebook Ads to Claude

Stop exporting Ads Manager. Start asking.

The same Facebook Ads account you already trust for your Data Studio reports, now answering questions in a chat. No exports, no dashboards to open.

Ask, get instant answers

"Which Facebook Ads campaigns had the highest CTR last week?" Claude pulls the numbers and explains them.

Reports inside the chat

Ask for a 30-day Facebook Ads view and get tables plus a summary ready to share, no Data Studio setup.

Client-ready summaries

"Turn the last 30 days of Facebook Ads into an executive summary." Paste it into Slack, email or a doc.

Diagnose dips fast

"Why did our spend jump on Tuesday?" Claude looks across campaigns, placements and dates and explains it.

Blend beyond Meta

Line Facebook Ads up against TikTok Ads, LinkedIn Ads, Search Console or WooCommerce in one answer.

Connect once, use everywhere

The same Facebook Ads account you linked for Data Studio is instantly available to Claude, zero duplicate setup.

Supported data sources

Facebook Ads, plus every other connector

Already connected in Data Bloo? It's instantly available to Claude, connect once, use everywhere.

Pick your route

Three ways to connect Facebook Ads to Claude

There are three real options, built for different people. Here's the honest version, including the case where the answer isn't us, so you pick the right one the first time.

Recommended for reporting

A connector like Data Bloo

Connect once and your Facebook Ads data, plus every other source in Data Bloo, is available to Claude any time. Read-only, blends across channels, and the same connection feeds your Data Studio reports.

Meta's official MCP

Meta launched an official MCP server on April 29,2026 at mcp.meta.com/ads. Around 29 tools that read and manage campaigns (new ones land paused). The trade-off: it writes to your account, it's Meta-only, and it needs a paid Claude plan.

A manual CSV export

Pull a report from Ads Manager, save the file, upload it to Claude. Free, and it works once. Then you do it again next week, separately for every account.

The bottom line: if you want Claude to manage campaigns, Meta's connector does that. If you want Claude to read and report on your marketing, across Facebook and everything else, and feed the same data to your dashboards, that's Data Bloo.

The honest bit

When to use Meta's official MCP instead

Data Bloo isn't the right tool for everyone. If your goal is to have Claude build, edit and pause campaigns, not just report on them, Meta's own connector is built for exactly that. Launched April 29,2026 at mcp.meta.com/ads, it authenticates directly with your Meta Business account over OAuth, needs no Developer App approval, and exposes around 29 tools for campaign management, product catalogs and performance. Anything Claude creates through it starts paused, so nothing goes live until you flip the switch in Ads Manager.

The trade-offs are real. It writes to your account, the exact risk Data Bloo removes by staying read-only. It only sees Meta, so it can't blend Facebook with your other channels. The beta rolls out gradually, so your account may not have access yet, and it needs a paid Claude plan. Plenty of teams run both: Meta's connector to act on campaigns, Data Bloo to read, blend and report across everything.

Before you start

What you need

Three things, and you probably already have them.

A Data Bloo account with Facebook Ads connected. If you already use Data Bloo for your Data Studio reports, your source is ready, connect once, use everywhere.
A Claude account. Desktop, Web or Claude Code all work, and a free Claude account is enough to start.
Pop-ups allowed for sign-in. Data Bloo’s sign-in opens a browser window during setup, so make sure your browser isn’t blocking it.

Under the hood

Seven read-only tools, why this can't get you banned

You just ask in plain language, Claude picks the right tool. The typical flow: list_data_sources → get_connector_accounts → list_fields → query_data.

Tool
What it does
get_user
Your plan, MCP access, usage limits and remaining calls.
list_data_sources
Every available connector, with its name and description.
get_connector_accounts
Your linked Facebook Ads accounts, and the IDs to query.
list_fields
The valid metrics and dimensions for Facebook Ads.
query_data
The actual pull: metrics and dimensions over a date range.
list_accounts
Every connected account across every connector, in one call.
get_dates
Turns "last month" into the exact start and end dates to query.

Read-only, always. Claude can pull and analyze your Facebook Ads, it can never pause a campaign, edit a budget or change any account setting. Nothing Meta could ever flag.

Why Data Bloo

Read-only safety and your dashboards, in one connection

The write-capable tools make you choose: hand an AI the keys to your ad account, or keep exporting by hand. Data Bloo doesn't ask you to choose. It reads, it reports, and the exact same connection already powering your Data Studio dashboards now answers questions in Claude.

It can't touch your account

All seven tools are read-only. Claude pulls and analyzes your Facebook Ads, but it can't pause a campaign, move a budget or change a setting, so there's no wrong instruction that could put your account at risk. No safety checklist to memorize, because there's nothing to switch off.

One connection, two surfaces

The Facebook Ads source you built for Data Studio is the same one Claude reads. No second setup, no second bill, and the numbers Claude quotes always match the dashboards you send clients. It's the one thing a Meta-only, write-first tool structurally can't give you.

The data

What Facebook Ads data you can pull

The same metrics you use in your reports, sliced by campaign, ad set, ad, placement, country, age, gender and date.

Delivery & cost

Impressions, link clicks, frequency, CTR, CPC, CPM and amount spent.

Conversions & value

Purchases, website purchases, leads, page engagements, content views, app installs, plus purchase value, so ROAS comes through when your account tracks it.

Breakdowns

Campaign, ad set, ad, publisher platform, device, country, region, age and gender.

Instagram, included

Meta ads serve across Facebook and Instagram, split them with the publisher-platform breakdown to see each side by side.

Real answers

What Claude actually gives you back

Three real prompts and the kind of answer Claude returns once Facebook Ads is connected through Data Bloo, numbers, then a plain-language read.

"Pull impressions, clicks and spend for my Facebook Ads account, last 30 days."

Claude: Last 30 days on Facebook Ads, 1,284,502 impressions, 21,940 link clicks and €16,467 spent. That’s a 1.71% CTR at €0.75 CPC, up 7% on the prior period.

The read: cheaper clicks and rising volume, efficiency is improving, not just spend climbing.
"Which campaigns had the highest and lowest CTR in the last 14 days?"

Claude: Highest, Retargeting · Cart Abandoners at 3.4% CTR. Lowest, Prospecting · Broad at 0.6%. The retargeting set drives about 4× the click-through at roughly a third of the CPC.

The read: shift budget toward retargeting, or refresh the broad-prospecting creative before it drains more.
"Break down last month’s spend by publisher platform, Facebook vs Instagram."

Claude: Facebook, €9,880 spend, 812 purchases, €12.17 cost per purchase. Instagram, €6,587 spend, 415 purchases, €15.87 cost per purchase.

The read: Facebook placements convert about 23% cheaper this month, worth testing a higher split.

Same connection, different job to be done. Here's the prompt each type of marketer tends to start with.

Agencies

E-commerce & DTC

Lead gen & B2B

Troubleshooting

Common issues and fixes

Claude says it can’t see your accounts

You’re likely not signed in yet, or Facebook Ads isn’t connected in Data Bloo. Ask "Using Data Bloo, list the accounts I have connected." If it comes back empty, open Data Bloo, confirm your Facebook Ads source is connected, then try again.

The numbers don’t match Ads Manager exactly

Small gaps are normal. Attribution windows differ, time zones shift which day a number lands in, and Ads Manager keeps updating recent figures as conversions come in. For trends, comparisons and reporting the Data Bloo pull is solid; for the last few hours of a live campaign, Ads Manager is freshest.

ROAS comes back empty

If an account doesn’t track purchase value, Data Bloo omits ROAS rather than showing a misleading zero. Ask for spend and purchases instead, or enable purchase-value tracking on the account.

Claude won’t take an action on your campaigns

That’s on purpose. The connection is read-only. If you need to create or pause ads from chat, that’s Meta’s official connector, not this.

Good to know

Query notes & FAQs

One breakdown dimension per call. For multiple breakdowns, ask Claude to run separate queries and combine them after.
Confirm fields first. Field IDs vary per connector. Claude usually lists fields before querying to avoid rejected requests.
ROAS may be empty. If an account doesn’t track purchase value, ROAS is omitted rather than shown as a misleading zero.
Numbers vs Ads Manager. Small gaps are normal, attribution windows, time zones and Meta’s ongoing updates to recent data.
