What connecting LinkedIn Ads to Claude actually means

You can ask Claude about your LinkedIn Ads and get a real answer, pulled from your actual account, in seconds. Type "how did my LinkedIn Ads do last month" and Claude reads your numbers and tells you, no CSV export, no Campaign Manager tabs. The connection runs through the Data Bloo MCP, takes about two minutes to set up, and it's read-only, so Claude can analyze your campaigns but can never change them.

Worth knowing before you compare tools: there is no official LinkedIn MCP for ads. LinkedIn keeps its Advertising API behind Marketing Developer Platform approval, so the self-hosted route means a developer app, an access token that expires every 60 days, and a server you run yourself. Data Bloo skips all of that, paste one URL, sign in, and Claude reads your LinkedIn Ads next to every other channel, through the same connection that feeds your Data Studio dashboards. That's what the rest of this guide covers.

Why connect LinkedIn Ads to Claude

Stop exporting Campaign Manager. Start asking.

The same LinkedIn Ads account you already trust for your Data Studio reports, now answering questions in a chat. No exports, no dashboards to open.

Ask, get instant answers

"Which LinkedIn Ads campaigns had the highest CTR last week?" Claude pulls the numbers and explains them.

Reports inside the chat

Ask for a 30-day LinkedIn Ads view and get tables plus a summary ready to share, no Data Studio setup.

Client-ready summaries

"Turn the last 30 days of LinkedIn Ads into an executive summary." Paste it into Slack, email or a doc.

Diagnose dips fast

"Why did our spend jump on Tuesday?" Claude looks across campaign groups, campaigns and dates and explains it.

Blend beyond LinkedIn

Line LinkedIn Ads up against Facebook Ads, Google Ads, TikTok Ads or LinkedIn Pages in one answer.

Connect once, use everywhere

The same LinkedIn Ads account you linked for Data Studio is instantly available to Claude, zero duplicate setup.

Supported data sources

LinkedIn Ads, plus every other connector

Already connected in Data Bloo? It's instantly available to Claude, connect once, use everywhere.

Pick your route

Three ways to connect LinkedIn Ads to Claude

There are three real options, built for different people. Here's the honest version, including the case where the answer isn't us, so you pick the right one the first time.

Recommended for reporting

A connector like Data Bloo

Connect once and your LinkedIn Ads data, plus every other source in Data Bloo, is available to Claude any time. Read-only, no developer app, no API approval, and the same connection feeds your Data Studio reports.

A community MCP server

There's no official LinkedIn MCP, so open-source servers like linkedin-ads-mcp fill the gap, around 14 read-only tools, free. The trade-off: you create a LinkedIn developer app, apply for Advertising API access, manage a token that expires every 60 days, and host the server yourself.

A manual CSV export

Export a report from Campaign Manager, save the file, upload it to Claude. Free, and it works once. Then you do it again next week, separately for every account.

The bottom line: if you're comfortable with a developer app and LinkedIn's token cycle, a community MCP server is free and genuinely good. If you'd rather never touch the Marketing Developer Platform, and you want LinkedIn Ads sitting next to the rest of your marketing, that's Data Bloo.

The honest bit

When a community MCP server is enough

Data Bloo isn't the right tool for everyone, and the community servers are genuinely good. There is no official LinkedIn MCP, LinkedIn (a Microsoft company) hasn't published one for ads, but open source filled the gap: linkedin-ads-mcp is the best-known LinkedIn Ads MCP server, with around 14 read-only tools covering accounts, campaign groups, campaign performance, creative performance and audience demographics. A handful of reporting vendors also host managed LinkedIn MCPs behind their own sign-ups. If you're technical and want to own the whole stack, or fork a server and add your own tools, nothing here beats free and open source.

The trade-off is LinkedIn's API itself, famously the most gated of the big ad platforms. Before you ask a single question you create a LinkedIn developer app, apply for Advertising API access through the Marketing Developer Platform, wait on the approval, generate an access token and paste it into a config file, then run the server yourself. Tokens expire after 60 days, so every couple of months the connection drops and you re-authenticate. And the server only sees LinkedIn, so it can't line your campaigns up against Facebook Ads or Google Ads, and it won't feed the Data Studio dashboards you already send clients.

So it isn't a safety question, the popular community servers are read-only just like Data Bloo. It's a question of who you are. If you want to own the stack and don't mind LinkedIn's paperwork, take the open-source route. If you want an answer before the standup, take the one that's already hosted.

Under the hood

Seven read-only tools, why this can't get you banned

You just ask in plain language, Claude picks the right tool. The typical flow: list_data_sources → get_connector_accounts → list_fields → query_data.

Tool
What it does
get_user
Your plan, MCP access, usage limits and remaining calls.
list_data_sources
Every available connector, with its name and description.
get_connector_accounts
Your linked LinkedIn Ads accounts, and the IDs to query.
list_fields
The valid metrics and dimensions for LinkedIn Ads.
query_data
The actual pull: metrics and dimensions over a date range.
list_accounts
Every connected account across every connector, in one call.
get_dates
Turns "last month" into the exact start and end dates to query.

Read-only, always. Claude can pull and analyze your LinkedIn Ads, it can never pause a campaign, edit a bid or change any account setting. Nothing LinkedIn could ever flag.

Why Data Bloo

Read-only safety and your dashboards, in one connection

The self-hosted route makes you choose: wrestle LinkedIn API approvals and 60-day tokens, or keep exporting by hand. Data Bloo doesn't ask you to choose. It reads, it reports, and the exact same connection already powering your Data Studio dashboards now answers questions in Claude.

It can't touch your account

All seven tools are read-only. Claude pulls and analyzes your LinkedIn Ads, but it can't pause a campaign, move a budget or change a setting, so there's no wrong instruction that could put your account at risk. No safety checklist to memorize, because there's nothing to switch off.

One connection, two surfaces

The LinkedIn Ads source you built for Data Studio is the same one Claude reads. No second setup, no second bill, and the numbers Claude quotes always match the dashboards you send clients. It's the one thing a self-hosted, LinkedIn-only server structurally can't give you.

The data

What LinkedIn Ads data you can pull

The same metrics you use in your reports, sliced by campaign group, campaign, creative, audience, country and date.

Delivery & cost

Impressions, clicks, spend, CTR, CPC and CPM, the full delivery picture for every campaign.

Leads & conversions

Leads, cost per lead, conversions and engagement, so you see what the spend produced, not just who saw it.

Breakdowns

Campaign group, campaign, creative, audience, country and date.

Engagement, included

Reactions, comments and shares count on LinkedIn, pull engagement next to spend to see which creatives earn attention beyond the click.

Real answers

What Claude actually gives you back

Three real prompts and the kind of answer Claude returns once LinkedIn Ads is connected through Data Bloo, numbers, then a plain-language read.

"Pull impressions, clicks and spend for my LinkedIn Ads account, last 30 days."

Claude: Last 30 days on LinkedIn Ads, 612,480 impressions, 4,270 clicks and €24,980 spent. That’s a 0.70% CTR at €5.85 CPC, with a €40.78 CPM.

The read: CTR is well above LinkedIn’s typical 0.4-0.6%, the targeting is working, so watch CPC rather than volume.
"Which campaigns had the lowest cost per lead in the last 30 days?"

Claude: Lowest, ABM · Enterprise target list at €62 per lead from 58 leads. Highest, Broad · Marketing job titles at €148 from 21 leads. The ABM campaign converts at less than half the cost.

The read: shift budget toward the ABM list, and tighten the broad campaign’s audience before it drains more of the month.
"Compare my Lead Gen Form campaigns against my website-conversion campaigns for last month."

Claude: Lead Gen Forms, €13,420 spend, 246 leads, €54.55 per lead. Website conversions, €11,560 spend, 118 conversions, €97.97 each.

The read: native Lead Gen Forms convert about 44% cheaper this month, worth testing them on the website-conversion audiences.

Who it's for

Built for how you actually work

Same connection, different job to be done. Here's the prompt each type of marketer tends to start with.

Agencies

Pull and compare across every client account without switching logins, then draft the monthly report in the chat.

"Compare CTR and cost per lead across all my connected LinkedIn Ads accounts this month."

Lead gen & B2B

Watch leads and cost per lead by campaign, and catch a rising cost per lead before it eats the month’s budget.

"Break down leads and cost per lead by campaign for last month, worst to best."

Demand gen & ABM teams

Prove the spend reaches the accounts that matter. Compare ABM list campaigns against broad audiences and report on leads, not vanity reach.

"Compare cost per lead between my ABM list campaigns and my broad-audience campaigns this quarter."
Troubleshooting

Common issues and fixes

Claude says it can’t see your accounts

You’re likely not signed in yet, or LinkedIn Ads isn’t connected in Data Bloo. Ask "Using Data Bloo, list the accounts I have connected." If it comes back empty, open Data Bloo, confirm your LinkedIn Ads source is connected, then try again.

The numbers don’t match Campaign Manager exactly

Small gaps are normal. LinkedIn attributes conversions on a 30-day click and 7-day view window by default, your account’s time zone shifts which day a number lands in, and Campaign Manager keeps restating recent figures as conversions come in. For trends, comparisons and reporting the Data Bloo pull is solid; for the last few hours of a live campaign, Campaign Manager is freshest.

Audience breakdowns show fewer rows than expected

LinkedIn protects member privacy: audience and demographic reporting hides segments below a minimum size, so smaller campaigns can return fewer rows than you expect. It’s LinkedIn’s threshold, not missing data, campaign-level totals are still complete.

Claude won’t take an action on your campaigns

That’s on purpose. The connection is read-only. If you need to create or pause campaigns from a chat, that’s a write-capable community server plus LinkedIn API approval, not this.

Good to know

Query notes & FAQs

One breakdown dimension per call. For multiple breakdowns, ask Claude to run separate queries and combine them after.
Confirm fields first. Field IDs vary per connector. Claude usually lists fields before querying to avoid rejected requests.
Small segments stay hidden. LinkedIn withholds audience rows below its privacy minimums, campaign-level totals stay complete.
Numbers vs Campaign Manager. Small gaps are normal, attribution windows, time zones and LinkedIn’s ongoing updates to recent conversions.
How do I connect LinkedIn Ads to Claude?+

Add a custom connector in Claude, name it Data Bloo, and paste the MCP URL https://mcp.databloo.com/mcp. Sign in once, then ask Claude about your LinkedIn Ads in plain language. No developer app, no API approval, no token to manage.

Is there an official LinkedIn MCP?+

No. As of 2026, LinkedIn (a Microsoft company) has not published an official LinkedIn MCP server for ads. Its Advertising API sits behind Marketing Developer Platform approval, so most people use either a community MCP server they host themselves, or a hosted connector like Data Bloo that handles the API for you.

Is the Data Bloo MCP free?+

It’s free to start, no credit card. The free tier includes MCP access with usage limits; paid plans raise the limits and add more connected accounts.

Does Claude change anything in my ad account?+

No. All seven MCP tools are strictly read-only. Claude can pull and analyze your data but can never edit campaigns, budgets, bids or audiences in Campaign Manager.

Do I need LinkedIn API or Marketing Developer Platform approval?+

No. That’s the biggest difference from self-hosted LinkedIn MCP servers. Data Bloo already holds the API access, you just sign in with your LinkedIn Ads account once and start asking.

Which AI tools does the MCP work with?+

Any MCP-compatible client, Claude Desktop, Web and Code, plus ChatGPT, Gemini and Cursor. The same URL works across all of them.

Can I blend LinkedIn Ads with other channels?+

Yes. As long as they’re connected in Data Bloo, ask Claude to compare LinkedIn Ads against Facebook Ads, Google Ads, TikTok Ads or your LinkedIn Pages, and it pulls one blended answer.

Do I need a paid Claude plan?+

No. A free Claude account is enough to add the Data Bloo connector and start pulling LinkedIn Ads reports. Your Claude plan is separate from Data Bloo, and the connector works on Claude Desktop, Web and Code.

Is it safe to connect LinkedIn Ads to Claude?+

Yes. You sign in once through Data Bloo’s secure OAuth flow, and the connection is strictly read-only, all seven tools. Claude can pull and analyze your LinkedIn Ads but can never pause a campaign, change a bid or take any action LinkedIn could flag.

Can I pull leads and cost per lead from LinkedIn Ads?+

Yes. Leads and cost per lead come through alongside impressions, clicks, spend, CTR, CPC, CPM, conversions and engagement, and you can break them down by campaign group, campaign or creative.

Can I use it across multiple client accounts?+

Yes. Ask Claude to list your connected LinkedIn Ads accounts, and it can pull and compare across them, handy for agencies running multiple clients.

Can I automate recurring LinkedIn Ads reports?+

Yes. Pair the MCP with Claude’s scheduled tasks or Claude Code for an automatic Monday-morning lead digest, a cost-per-lead alert or a recurring client update, unattended.
