Instagram Insights Connector Troubleshooting
Invalid Field Selection
Description
One or more selected fields are not supported for Instagram account insights. Instagram only allows a limited set of metrics for account-level reporting.
Currently supported fields include:
- Followers
- Follows
- Views
- Shares
- Reach
- Comments
This error occurs when unsupported or incompatible fields are added to a chart or report.
How to fix
- Remove unsupported fields from your chart
- Use only the supported Instagram account metrics listed above
- Refresh the report after updating the field selection
Invalid Field Combination
Description
The selected metrics cannot be requested together in the same API call. Instagram enforces restrictions on which metrics can be combined in a single request.
This is an Instagram API limitation and not a Data Bloo issue.
How to fix
- Adjust your metric selection
- Split metrics across multiple charts
- Keep each chart focused on a smaller set of compatible metrics
Missing Metric Selection
Description
At least one metric must be selected to retrieve Instagram insights. If no metrics are selected, Instagram cannot return any data.
How to fix
- Edit your chart or data source configuration
- Select at least one Instagram metric
- Reload the report
Session Invalidated
Description
Your authentication session is no longer valid. This usually happens when your access token expires, after a password or security change, or due to prolonged inactivity.
When this happens, Data Bloo can no longer access your data until a new token is generated.
How to fix

- Go to hub.databloo.com
- Select Data Sources
- Click Add Account
- Re-Select your account(s) or click Skip
- This will generate a new access token automatically
- Reload your Data Studio report after reconnecting
Your reports should start working again once the new token is generated.
Account Required
Description
No account is selected for this data source, so the connector has nothing to query.
Metrics and dimensions are tied to specific accounts. Without selecting at least one account, the query cannot run.
How to fix

Option 1:
- Open the data source configuration page from your report (Edit data source → Edit connection)
- Under Account, select at least one account
- Click Reconnect or Connect to save the selection
- Refresh your Data Studio report
Option 2:
Reconnect your Instagram Insights data source directly here:
Reconnect Instagram Insights Connector
Your reports should start working again after reconnecting and selecting an account.
Account Not Found
Description
The Instagram business account could not be found. This usually happens when the account is not properly set up or linked within Meta.
Common causes include:
- The account is not a Business or Creator account
- The account is not linked to a Facebook Page
- The account is not connected to a Meta Business Portfolio
How to fix
- Convert the Instagram account to a Business or Creator account
- Link it to a Facebook Page
- Ensure it is added to a Meta Business Portfolio
- Reconnect the data source in Data Bloo
Invalid Date Range
Description
The selected date range is not supported by Instagram Insights. Instagram enforces strict limits on date ranges and historical data availability.
Platform limitations include:
- Maximum date range of 30 days per request
- Data available for the last 2 years only
- Start date must be before the end date
How to fix
- Ensure the start date is before the end date
- Limit the date range to 30 days or less
- Use valid historical dates within the last 2 years
- Refresh the report after updating dates
Permission Required
Description
Your Facebook account does not have the required permissions to access the Instagram account or linked Page data. Instagram Insights access is managed through Facebook and Meta permissions.
This error commonly occurs when:
- You are not an admin or editor of the linked Facebook Page
- Business permissions were removed or changed
How to fix
- Ask a Page or Business admin to grant you admin, editor, or moderator access
- Confirm permissions in Meta Business settings
- Reconnect the data source after permissions are updated
Authentication Expired
Description
Your connection is no longer authenticated. Data Bloo requires a valid session in order to retrieve your data.
This usually happens when:
- The access token expired
- The token has been revoked
- Login credentials were changed
How to fix

- Go to hub.databloo.com
- Click the Re-authenticate button on your connection
- If the button is not available, click Add new connection
- Reconnect your account
- Reload your Data Studio report
- Your reports should start working again after reconnecting.
Connector Update Required
Description
The connector version you are using is no longer active. Older versions are deprecated to stay compliant with Meta and Instagram API updates.
How to fix
- Go to hub.databloo.com
- Disconnect the existing Instagram Insights data source
- Reconnect it to use the latest connector version
- Refresh your report
Request Timeout
Description
The request took too long to complete and was stopped by the server. This typically happens when requesting large datasets or complex metric combinations.
How to fix
- Reduce the selected date range
- Simplify metric selection
- Split data into multiple charts
Quota Limit Exceeded
Description
You have reached the maximum number of allowed API requests for your Instagram Insights connection within a short period of time.
This often happens due to frequent manual refreshes or dashboards with many charts.
How to fix
- Wait for the quota to reset
- Reduce manual refresh frequency
- Simplify dashboards to lower API usage
Service Unavailable
Description
Instagram or Data Bloo services are temporarily unavailable. This is usually caused by short-term outages or maintenance.
These issues are typically resolved automatically.
How to fix
- Wait a few minutes and try again
- Refresh the data source
- Contact Data Bloo support if the issue persists
Unexpected Error
Description
An unexpected error occurred while processing your request. This may be caused by temporary API issues, internal server errors, or unsupported edge cases.
How to fix
- Retry the request after a few minutes
- Refresh the report
- If the error persists, contact Data Bloo support and include screenshots and error details
General Best Practices
- Keep charts simple and focused
- Use only supported Instagram metrics
- Avoid complex metric combinations in a single chart
- Prefer shorter date ranges
- Use scheduled refreshes instead of frequent manual refreshes
If the issue persists, please contact us via www.databloo.com/contact and include screenshots so we can troubleshoot faster.
