What connecting Klaviyo to ChatGPT actually means

You ask ChatGPT about your Klaviyo account and get a real answer, pulled from your actual data, in seconds. Type "@Data Bloo how did our flows do last month" and it reads your numbers, draws a small dashboard in the thread and tells you what moved. No CSV export, no dashboard to open. It runs through the Data Bloo plugin, takes about a minute to install, and it's read-only, so ChatGPT can analyze your campaigns but can never change them.

Klaviyo ships an official MCP server of its own, aimed at building segments, drafting campaigns and editing flows. It's good at that, and it writes to your account by default. What it doesn't do is put attributed email and SMS revenue next to what you spent on ads to earn it, or feed the Data Studio dashboards you already send clients. That comparison is the job this page is about.

Why connect Klaviyo to ChatGPT

Stop exporting Klaviyo reports. Start asking.

The same Klaviyo account you already track in your Data Studio reports, now answering questions in a chat.

Ask, get instant answers

"Which campaigns had the highest click rate last week?" ChatGPT pulls the numbers and explains them.

A dashboard, not a wall of text

Recipients, open rate and revenue come back as tiles and a flow table, drawn inside the thread.

True ROAS, finally

Line email and SMS revenue up against Facebook and Google spend in one answer, not three tabs and a spreadsheet.

Diagnose dips fast

"Why did revenue dip in week three?" It looks across campaigns, flows and segments and explains it.

Client-ready summaries

"Turn last month's lifecycle performance into a summary." Paste it into Slack, email or a doc.

Connect once, use everywhere

The same Klaviyo account you linked for Data Studio is instantly available to ChatGPT, zero duplicate setup.

Supported data sources

Three ways to connect Klaviyo to ChatGPT

They solve different problems. Here's the honest version so you don't set up the wrong one.

For reporting

A connector like Data Bloo

One-click install from ChatGPT's directory, sign in once, ask in plain English. No admin seat, no OAuth app, nothing to configure. Read-only, blends email and SMS revenue with your ad spend, and the same connection feeds your Data Studio reports.

✓ Free to start · ~1 minute

Klaviyo's official MCP

Klaviyo hosts its own MCP at mcp.klaviyo.com/mcp, with over 200 tools across campaigns, flows, segments and profiles. Free with your account. It's built for acting on your Klaviyo, not for pulling revenue next to your ad spend, and it writes unless you opt out.

→ Best for building and sending

A manual export

Export a campaign or flow report from Klaviyo, save the file, upload it into the chat. Free, and it works once. Then you do it again next week, and it never lines up with your ad data.

The bottom line: if you want an agent that builds and sends, Klaviyo's own MCP does that. If you want to read and report on revenue with your ad spend in the same answer, that's Data Bloo.

The honest bit

When to use Klaviyo's own MCP instead

Data Bloo isn't the right tool for everyone, and Klaviyo's own MCP is genuinely good at what it's built for: letting an assistant act inside your account, creating campaigns, editing flows and building segments through Klaviyo's own interfaces. It is free with your account, hosted by Klaviyo, and it exposes more than 200 tools. If that is what you want, use it.

Where it stops is reporting across channels. It sees Klaviyo and nothing else, so it can't tell you whether last month's email revenue justified the ad spend that filled the list, or which channel produced the profiles that converted. It also writes to your account by default — read-only is an opt-in you have to remember, and this is a list of real people. And it needs an Owner, Admin or Manager seat, which is more access than a reporting job requires. That comparison, and those dashboards, are the job Data Bloo does.

Why Data Bloo

Read-only safety and your dashboards, in one connection

The write-capable routes make you choose: hand an AI the keys to your subscriber list, or keep exporting by hand. Data Bloo doesn't ask you to choose. It reads, it reports, and the exact same connection already powering your Data Studio dashboards now answers questions in ChatGPT.

It can't touch your subscribers

All seven tools are read-only. ChatGPT pulls and analyzes your campaigns, flows and revenue, but it can't send a message, edit a flow, change a segment or touch a profile. Nothing needs an admin seat either, so there's no write scope to secure.

One connection, two surfaces

The Klaviyo source you built for Data Studio is the same one ChatGPT reads. No second setup, no second bill, and the numbers ChatGPT quotes always match the dashboards you send clients. It's the one thing a Klaviyo-only server structurally can't give you.

What you need

1A Data Bloo account with your Klaviyo account connected. Free tier is fine.
2Access to the Klaviyo account with reporting permissions.
3A ChatGPT account. Web or the desktop app, the steps are identical.
That's it. No private API key, no OAuth app, no server URL, no admin seat.

How to connect Klaviyo to ChatGPT

Seven clicks, start to finish. It works the same on ChatGPT web and the desktop app.

1
Connect Klaviyo in Data Bloo

If you already use Data Bloo for your Data Studio reports, skip this, your account is ready. If not, sign up free and link your Klaviyo account once.

2
Open the Data Bloo listing

Jump straight to Data Bloo in the ChatGPT plugin directory. You'll see sample prompts and the list of supported sources, Klaviyo among them.

Open Data Bloo in ChatGPT →
3
Click Install plugin

The black Install plugin button sits at the top right of the listing, next to the Data Bloo name.

4
Sign in with Data Bloo

ChatGPT opens Data Bloo's sign-in page. Log in with your Data Bloo account (or the email you use for your connectors) and approve read access.

5
Click Try in chat

Once installed, the button flips from Install plugin to Try in chat. Click it to jump straight into a new conversation.

6
Mention @Data Bloo and ask

Try: "@Data Bloo How did email do last month, and which flows drove the revenue?"

7
Pick the account, get the analysis

If you have more than one account, ChatGPT asks which to analyze. Answer, and it returns a rendered dashboard plus a written read of what moved and why.

Confirm it works: in a fresh chat, type "@Data Bloo list all the Klaviyo accounts I have connected." If your account comes back in the list, you're connected.

Under the hood

Seven read-only tools, why your list stays untouched

You ask in plain language, ChatGPT picks the tool. The usual path for a Klaviyo question: get_connector_accounts → list_fields → query_data.

Tool
What it does
get_user
Your plan, access and how many calls you have left.
list_data_sources
Every connector available to you, Klaviyo included.
get_connector_accounts
Your linked Klaviyo accounts, and the IDs to query.
list_fields
The valid metrics and dimensions for Klaviyo.
query_data
The actual pull: metrics and dimensions over a date range.
list_accounts
Every connected account across every connector, in one call.
get_dates
Turns "last month" into the exact start and end dates to query.

Plus a built-in skill. The plugin ships with data-bloo-channel-analysis, so ChatGPT doesn't just fetch rows, it knows how a lifecycle marketer reads them: which flow carries the revenue, which campaign is burning the list, and whether email beat what you spent on ads.

Read-only, always. ChatGPT can pull and analyze your Klaviyo data, it can never send a campaign, edit a flow or change a segment.

Real answers

What ChatGPT actually gives you back

Three prompts and the kind of answer ChatGPT returns once Klaviyo is connected through Data Bloo, numbers, then a plain-language read.

"@Data Bloo Pull recipients, open rate and conversion value for last month."

ChatGPT: 184,290 recipients and a 42.6% open rate, producing €92,140 in conversion value. That is €0.50 per recipient. Unsubscribes came to 0.21% and spam complaints to 0.02%.

The read: engagement is healthy and complaints are well under the 0.1% danger line, so there is room to send more before list health becomes the constraint.
"@Data Bloo Which flows drove the most revenue?"

ChatGPT: Top three, Abandoned Checkout (€37,470 from 9,140 recipients), Browse Abandonment (€12,940 from 8,220) and the Welcome Series (€7,990 from 12,880). Abandoned Checkout earns the most per recipient at €4.10.

The read: Abandoned Checkout is doing the heavy lifting. Anything that moves more people into that flow is worth more than another campaign send.
"@Data Bloo Did email beat what we spent on ads last month?"

ChatGPT: Combined ad spend across Facebook and Google came to €26,400 against €92,140 in Klaviyo conversion value, so email and SMS returned roughly 3.5× what paid social cost, at no media cost of their own.

The read: the blended number is solid, and Facebook is carrying it. That comparison needs both sides connected, which is the point.

Who it's for

Built for how you actually work

Same connection, different job to be done. Here's the prompt each type of marketer tends to start with.

E-commerce & DTC

See revenue, open rate and list growth without opening Klaviyo, and catch a campaign quietly burning your list.

"@Data Bloo show conversion value, open rate and unsubscribe rate by week for the last quarter."

Agencies

Put email and SMS revenue next to the ad spend you manage, and report on total return rather than opens.

"@Data Bloo compare total ad spend against Klaviyo conversion value for the last 30 days."

Lifecycle & CRM

Watch list growth, segment churn and unsubscribe rate, and catch a shrinking active list before it eats next month's revenue.

"@Data Bloo break down members added and removed by segment for last month, worst to best."
Troubleshooting

Common issues and fixes

ChatGPT answers without using your data

Start the message with @Data Bloo. Without the mention it may answer from general knowledge instead of reaching for the plugin, and you'll get a confident, generic reply that has nothing to do with your account.

It says it can't see your accounts

You're likely not signed in yet, or Klaviyo isn't connected in Data Bloo. Ask "@Data Bloo list the accounts I have connected." If it comes back empty, open Data Bloo, confirm your Klaviyo source is connected, then try again.

The numbers don't match Klaviyo exactly

Klaviyo's own dashboards and the API attribute conversions over different windows, and campaign figures keep updating for days after a send. Ask ChatGPT which metric and timeframe it used, unique opens and total opens are not the same number, and most mismatches come down to that.

A question mixing campaigns and flows comes back empty

Klaviyo serves campaigns, flows, lists, segments, forms and profiles from separate endpoints with different row shapes, so they can't be combined in a single pull. Ask ChatGPT for one group at a time and compare the answers.

ChatGPT won't take an action on your account

That's on purpose. The connection is read-only, so nothing in Klaviyo can be changed from a chat. If you need ChatGPT to build a segment or send a campaign, that's Klaviyo's own MCP, not this.

Good to know

Query notes & FAQs

@Mention the plugin. Starting with @Data Bloo is the surest way to make ChatGPT reach for your data rather than guess.
One Klaviyo group per call. Campaigns, flows, lists, segments, forms, profiles and account come from different endpoints and cannot be mixed. Date and account fields combine with any one of them.
Campaign rows are aggregated. Flows, forms and segments return a true daily series. Campaign figures are totalled over the timeframe, so a daily campaign chart is not meaningful.
#Money follows the account currency. Conversion value and revenue per recipient come back in your Klaviyo account's preferred currency, not a converted one.

Connect your Klaviyo account in Data Bloo, then open Plugins in ChatGPT, search for Data Bloo, click Install plugin and sign in. Ask your first question with @Data Bloo. About a minute end to end, with no API key to generate and no admin seat needed.

It's free to start, no credit card. The free tier includes plugin access with usage limits; paid plans raise the limits and add more connected accounts.

No. All seven Data Bloo tools are strictly read-only. ChatGPT can pull and analyze your campaigns, flows and revenue but can never send a message, edit a flow, change a segment or touch a profile.

Klaviyo's own MCP is built for acting on your account: creating campaigns, editing flows, building segments, and it writes by default unless you add a read-only flag. Data Bloo is read-only by construction, needs no admin seat, and crucially it sees your ad spend too, so it can answer whether the email revenue beat what you paid for traffic.

No. Data Bloo is a listed plugin in ChatGPT's directory, so installing is one click and a sign-in. A server URL is only needed for clients without a directory, like Claude, and that's covered on our Klaviyo to Claude page.

Yes, and it's the main reason to connect Klaviyo here. With your ad accounts connected in Data Bloo, "compare last month's ad spend against Klaviyo conversion value" is a single question with one answer.

No. Klaviyo's own MCP needs an Owner, Admin or Manager seat. Data Bloo reads through the connection you already made, so a reporting-level login is enough.

Yes. Connect each Klaviyo account in Data Bloo and name it in your prompt. If you don't specify, ChatGPT asks which account to analyze first.

The Data Bloo plugin ships its own interface, so results render as KPI tiles and a table inside the chat. The written analysis still appears underneath, and you can ask for a plain table any time.
