What connecting Google Business Profile to ChatGPT actually means

You ask ChatGPT about your Google Business Profile and get a real answer, pulled from your actual locations, in seconds. Type "@Data Bloo how many calls did we get last month" and it reads your numbers, draws a small dashboard in the thread and tells you which location drove them. No export, no dashboard to open first. The connection runs through the Data Bloo plugin in ChatGPT's own directory, takes about a minute to set up, and it's read-only.

Google doesn't publish an official Business Profile MCP server. The ones that exist are open-source projects on GitHub, and they're capable, but each asks you to create a Google Cloud project, enable the Business Profile APIs, request quota, download an OAuth JSON and run a server from your terminal. Data Bloo skips all of it: install from the directory, sign in once, ask in plain English.

Why connect Google Business Profile to ChatGPT

Stop screenshotting Maps insights. Start asking.

The same locations you already track in your Data Studio reports, now answering questions in a chat.

Ask, get instant answers

"Which location got the most calls last week?" ChatGPT pulls the numbers and explains them.

A dashboard, not a wall of text

Impressions, interactions and calls come back as tiles and a location table, drawn inside the thread.

It reads your reviews for you

"Summarize what people complained about this month." It reads the review text and gives you the themes.

Diagnose a quiet month

"Why did directions requests drop?" It looks across locations, search terms and dates and explains it.

Blend beyond Maps

Line local visibility up against Search Console, Google Ads or your store revenue in one answer.

Connect once, use everywhere

The same locations you linked for Data Studio are instantly available to ChatGPT, zero duplicate setup.

Supported data sources

Google Business Profile, plus every other connector

Pick your route

Three ways to connect Google Business Profile to ChatGPT

They solve different problems. Here's the honest version so you don't set up the wrong one.

For reporting

A connector like Data Bloo

One-click install from ChatGPT's directory, sign in once, ask in plain English. No Cloud project, no OAuth JSON, nothing to host. Read-only, blends your locations with your other channels, and the same connection feeds your Data Studio reports.

✓ Free to start · ~1 minute

An open-source MCP server

Google publishes no official Business Profile MCP, but community projects on GitHub do the job. They're free and capable. The trade-off: a Cloud project, the Business Profile APIs enabled, a quota request, an OAuth JSON and a server to run.

→ Best if you live in the terminal

A manual export

Export the Performance report from Business Profile, or screenshot the insights, and upload it into the chat. Free, and it works once. Then you repeat it next month, separately for every location.

✕ Breaks down past a one-off

The bottom line: if you're comfortable requesting API quota and running a server, the open-source route is free and works. If you'd rather skip the setup tax entirely, ask in plain English, and see local performance next to the rest of your marketing, that's Data Bloo.

The honest bit

When to use an open-source MCP instead

Data Bloo isn't the right tool for everyone. Google publishes no official Business Profile MCP server, but several community projects on GitHub do the job well, they're free, open source, and if you want raw API access from a terminal they're the more direct route.

The trade-off is everything around it. Google's Business Profile APIs need a Cloud project and an approved quota request before they return anything, then an OAuth JSON and a server you keep running. And they only see Maps, so they can't tell you whether the calls they're reporting came from people who found you through organic search or paid. That's the job Data Bloo does.

Why Data Bloo

No setup tax and all your dashboards in one connection

Every other route to Business Profile in ChatGPT asks you to become a developer first, or to keep exporting by hand. Data Bloo asks for neither. It reads, it reports, and the exact same connection already powering your Data Studio dashboards now answers questions in ChatGPT.

Nothing to install, nothing to host

No Cloud project to stand up, no API quota to request, no OAuth JSON to paste into a config file, no terminal. You install one plugin and sign in. All seven tools are read-only, so ChatGPT can read your locations and reviews but can't post, reply or change a listing.

One connection, two surfaces

The Business Profile source you built for Data Studio is the same one ChatGPT reads. No second setup, no second bill, and the numbers ChatGPT quotes always match the dashboards you send clients. It's the one thing a self-hosted, Maps-only server structurally can't give you.

What you need

1A Data Bloo account with your Business Profile locations connected. Free tier is fine.
2Access to the locations in Google Business Profile. Manager or owner works.
3A ChatGPT account. Web or the desktop app, the steps are identical.
That's it. No Cloud project, no quota request, no OAuth JSON, no API key.

6
Mention @Data Bloo and ask

Try: "@Data Bloo How did my locations do on Maps last month, and where did the calls come from?"

7
Pick the location, get the analysis

If you have more than one location, ChatGPT asks which to analyze. Answer, and it returns a rendered dashboard plus a written read of what moved and why.

Confirm it works: in a fresh chat, type "@Data Bloo list all the Google Business Profile locations I have connected." If your location comes back in the list, you're connected.

Under the hood

Seven read-only tools, and nothing to install

You ask in plain language, ChatGPT picks the tool. The usual path for a Google Business Profile question: get_connector_accounts → list_fields → query_data.

Tool
What it does
get_user
Your plan, access and how many calls you have left.
list_data_sources
Every connector available to you, Google Business Profile included.
get_connector_accounts
Your linked Google Business Profile locations, and the IDs to query.
list_fields
The valid metrics and dimensions for Google Business Profile.
query_data
The actual pull: metrics and dimensions over a date range.
list_accounts
Every connected account across every connector, in one call.
get_dates
Turns "last month" into the exact start and end dates to query.

Plus a built-in skill. The plugin ships with data-bloo-channel-analysis, so ChatGPT doesn't just fetch rows, it knows how a local marketer reads them: which location is winning discovery, which is converting views into calls, and what to fix first.

Read-only, always. ChatGPT can pull and analyze your locations and reviews, it can never post a reply, edit a listing or change your hours.

What ChatGPT actually gives you back

Three prompts and the kind of answer ChatGPT returns once Google Business Profile is connected through Data Bloo, numbers, then a plain-language read.

"@Data Bloo How did my locations do last month?"

ChatGPT: 142,880 impressions and 6,412 interactions, a 4.5% interaction rate. Maps drove 71% of impressions, Search 29%. Calls came to 1,204, directions to 2,880.

The read: discovery is healthy and Maps is doing the heavy lifting. Directions outrank calls more than 2:1, so people are coming to you rather than phoning first.
"@Data Bloo Which location converts views into calls best?"

ChatGPT: Thessaloniki, 392 calls from 38,110 impressions, a 1.03% call rate. Kolonaki takes more calls in absolute terms (548) but from 61,240 impressions, a 0.89% rate.

The read: Kolonaki has the reach, Thessaloniki has the conversion. Whatever the Thessaloniki listing does differently is worth copying.
"@Data Bloo Summarize what reviewers complained about this month."

ChatGPT: Across 41 reviews averaging 4.3 stars, the recurring negatives are waiting times at peak hours (nine mentions), parking (six) and inconsistent opening hours (four). Positives cluster on staff friendliness and product quality.

The read: the hours complaint is the cheapest fix and the one most likely to be costing you visits.

Troubleshooting

Common issues and fixes

ChatGPT answers without using your data

Start the message with @Data Bloo. Without the mention it may answer from general knowledge instead of reaching for the plugin, and you'll get a confident, generic reply that has nothing to do with your location.

It says it can't see your locations

You're likely not signed in yet, or Google Business Profile isn't connected in Data Bloo. Ask "@Data Bloo list the accounts I have connected." If it comes back empty, open Data Bloo, confirm your Google Business Profile source is connected, then try again.

The numbers look lower than the Business Profile app

Google reports Business Profile performance with a delay of a few days, and it only keeps six months of data. Recent days fill in after the fact, so today's number will look small until it settles.

Some locations return nothing

Unverified or suspended listings return no performance data. Check the listing's status in Business Profile; once it's verified, data starts flowing again.

ChatGPT won't take an action on your location

That's on purpose. The connection is read-only, so nothing in Google Business Profile can be changed from a chat. If you need to change something, do it in Google Business Profile itself.

Query notes & FAQs

@Mention the plugin. Starting with @Data Bloo is the surest way to make ChatGPT reach for your data rather than guess.
One breakdown dimension per call. For multiple breakdowns, ask ChatGPT to run separate queries and combine them after.
A few days' lag. Google fills in recent Business Profile data after the fact, so the last few days keep moving.
6Six months, max. Google only retains six months of Business Profile performance data, so nothing can reach further back.

Connect your locations in Data Bloo, then open Plugins in ChatGPT, search for Data Bloo, click Install plugin and sign in. Ask your first question with @Data Bloo. About a minute end to end, with no Cloud project and no OAuth JSON.

It's free to start, no credit card. The free tier includes plugin access with usage limits; paid plans raise the limits and add more connected accounts.

No. The connection is read-only, so ChatGPT can read and summarize reviews but can never post a reply, edit your listing or change your hours. Replying stays in Business Profile, where it belongs.

No. Google doesn't publish one. The servers that exist are community projects, and each needs a Cloud project, approved API quota, an OAuth JSON and a server you host yourself.

No. Data Bloo is a listed plugin in ChatGPT's directory, so installing is one click and a sign-in. A server URL is only needed for clients without a directory, like Claude, and that's covered on our Google Business Profile to Claude page.

Yes. Connect each location in Data Bloo and ask across all of them at once, or name one in your prompt. Comparing branches is a single question.

Six months. That's a Google limit, not a Data Bloo one. For longer trends, let a Data Studio report accumulate the data over time.

Yes. Ask ChatGPT to compare local impressions against Search Console clicks, Google Ads spend or your store revenue, and it pulls one blended answer.

The Data Bloo plugin ships its own interface, so results render as KPI tiles and a table inside the chat. The written analysis still appears underneath, and you can ask for a plain table any time.
