Google Search Console Connector User Guide

Prerequisites

Before connecting your data, ensure you have:

  • A Data Bloo account (sign up is free)
  • A Google account with access to Data Studio
  • Access to a Google Search Console account
  • Verified website property/properties inside Google Search Console
  • Sufficient permissions for the selected Search Console property
  • Pop-up blockers disabled for Google OAuth authentication

How to Connect

Step 1: Sign in to Data Bloo

Step 2: Navigate to Google Search Console Data Source

  • Go to Data Sources from the left menu
  • Click Add new data source
  • Select Google Search Console

Step 3: Connect to Google Search Console

  • Click Connect with Google Search Console
  • You will be redirected to Google to authorize Data Bloo
  • Approve the requested permissions to allow secure access to your Search Console data

Step 4: Select Search Console Properties

  • Choose one or more verified Search Console properties
  • Select the website(s) you want to report on

Step 5: Review Connection

  • Your connected properties will appear under the Google Search Console data source
  • You can add or remove websites at any time
  • Click Save to continue

Step 6: Authorize in Data Studio

  • Data Studio will prompt you to authorize the connector
  • Approve access for both Data Bloo and Google Search Console
  • Click Edit and share → Acknowledge and save
  • Wait a few seconds for the report to fully generate

Step 7: View the Google Search Console Report

Your Data Studio dashboard will include metrics such as:

  • Clicks, Impressions, CTR, and Average Position
  • Queries and Landing Pages performance
  • Country and Device breakdowns
  • Search Appearance performance
  • Date-based SEO trend analysis
  • Sitemap monitoring

Step 8 (Optional): Customize SEO Reporting Settings

You can modify your Search Console reporting setup directly inside Data Studio.

This is useful when:

  • You want to compare multiple websites or properties
  • You need page-level or query-level SEO analysis
  • You want to filter branded vs non-branded traffic
  • You manage SEO dashboards for multiple clients

How to Edit the Data Source Configuration

  • Open your Data Studio report
  • Go to Resource → Manage added data sources
  • Edit the Google Search Console connector
  • Adjust selected dimensions, metrics, or filters
  • Click Reconnect and confirm changes

Finalize the Changes

  • After making your selections, click Reconnect
  • When prompted, confirm by clicking Apply

Your dashboard will now reflect your updated configuration.

Data not showing in Data StudioReconnect the data source and refresh fields inside Data Studio.
Bad Request error 400Return to the Data Studio homepage and ensure the same Google account is used in both Chrome and Data Studio.
Recent SEO data missingGoogle Search Console data may be delayed by up to 48 hours. Try excluding today and yesterday from your selected date range.
Only partial query or page data appearsGoogle Search Console applies row limits and anonymization for low-volume queries. Narrow the date range or use filters for more focused analysis.

  • Data security: Data Bloo does not store your Google Search Console data. All access is read-only and securely pulled through Google’s API.
